Period Inspired Kitchen Remodel in Wayne, PA

Located in Wayne, PA is a kitchen remodel recently completed by HomeTech Renovations that provided our clients with a space that accentuates their entertaining lifestyle, is able to support their growing family, and is reflective of the period style of their home. The project included the removal of an existing laundry and storage closet in order to create a space for a casual dining area. The narrow space that was originally the butler’s pantry is now a spacious bar area, and the central island houses the sink, completing the kitchen work triangle. Located next to the range is a cottage style window from Pella that replaced the small window over the sink and allows access to the exterior herb garden. The new layout of the kitchen creates an open environment in which family, friends, and guests can easily interact.

White, beaded inset, shaker style cabinetry provides the space with traditional elements. The large island is constructed of Pennsylvania cherry with a glazed finish and features integral wainscot paneling and hand-turned legs. A Rohl, fireclay, apron front sink along with a satin nickel Rohl faucet, soap pump, and vacuum disposal switch were installed in the island. The new bar area showcases white, shaker style cabinetry with antique restoration glass inserts and blue painted interiors, as well as a Rohl faucet and a Linkasink copper sink. The range area is a major feature of the kitchen due to its mantle style hood and tile backsplash. Esther Halferty of Lilywork, one of our favorite local artisans featured in our Artisan Gallery, handcrafted the tile backsplash which is set in a herringbone pattern as well as the decorative tile feature over the cooking surface.

The honed Belgium bluestone countertops contrast against the lighter elements throughout the kitchen, and the reclaimed, white and red oak flooring with a natural oil finish provides additional warmth to the space. Because of our clients’ love of cooking, commercial grade appliances, such as the Wolf Professional Series range and the Meile steam oven, were installed. The Meile refrigerator features fully integrated, wood panels that provide the unit with a furniture-like feel and zero clearance hinges that allow for the panels.
