Home Additions & Design Plans

Did you know that homeowners in the United States spend over $400 billion on home improvement projects every year? Most of the time, these improvement projects are aimed at making the home more comfortable while adding extra rooms for entertaining and storage.

Whether your home isn’t big enough to accommodate your changing needs or you’re ready for an upgrade, repairs, remodels, and home extensions can help you add additional space without buying a new house. At HomeTech Renovations, our home addition contractors are here to help you create the space you and your family need with an extension.

Why Build a Home Addition?

Home extensions are a great way to transform your space with the addition of an extra room, like a sunroom, garage, or second-floor addition. These projects let you expand on your home’s current floor space and make the most of your lot. While an addition is one of the most expensive renovations you can invest in as a homeowner, the additional space provides several benefits for you to enjoy, including:

  • Specialized space – Create an enclosed porch, playroom, a home office, or a sunroom without giving up a bedroom. A home extension can have a dedicated purpose if you’re missing space in your current home layout.
  • Increased storage options – Whether you need more storage space for clothing, toys, or workout equipment, adding a room gives you a place to put all of these items without cluttering up other areas. You can add shelving and cabinets to your new storage room to make organizing even easier.
  • Moving alternative – If you like your home and your current neighborhood, but your house is too small, consider an addition. Relocating to a new area can be stressful, and the hassle of moving can be expensive. If you’re looking for an economical solution to moving, a home extension might be the answer.
  • More bedroom space – Maybe your kids are growing up, and they desire their own space, or your elderly parents are moving into your home. Whatever the case, a home addition can add bedroom space so everyone can sleep comfortably.
  • Increased home value – If you’re looking to sell your home, an addition can increase its value and attract buyers.

Types of Home Additions and Expansions

While room additions are the most common type of home expansion, we do a lot more than that. Here are some of the ways we can add to your living space.

Room Additions

Do you need a truly private home office? Are your children pushing for their bedrooms? Are you looking for space to house overnight guests? Room additions are a great way to maximize the use you get out of your space. Whether you’re looking for a single room or a full accessory dwelling unit (better known as an in-law suite), we can make it happen.

Attic, Basement, Patio, and Garage Conversions

If you have areas in your home that you don’t use, like an unfinished basement or garage, we may be able to convert them into an entirely new room that you and your family will love to use. These make great offices and game rooms, as well as studios. And if you have a patio, we can convert it into a lanai or a sunroom.

Bump Outs

If a specific room needs to be larger, for instance, to make room for a kitchen island or a dining table that fits your whole extended family, a bump out may be the best solution. These projects add space to an existing room while preserving the appearance of your home. They can add a few square feet or more than a hundred, depending on their location.

Second Story Additions

A second story addition may be in the cards for the truly ambitious homeowners who want to move up in the world. These are highly intensive projects, but intensely rewarding once they’re finished. You can easily double your home’s square footage.

The Home Addition Process

No matter the scope of your project, the first step in your home addition is to consult with an expert to learn what’s possible for your space and your budget. You may be pleasantly surprised at how much of a transformation you can get with a little work. HomeTech Renovations is proud to offer free consultations for every project, including home additions. Even before we visit your home, you can download our complimentary Home Renovation Planning Guide, which will help you think like one of our expert contractors.

At HomeTech Renovations, we’ve had forty years to perfect our project development process. After your phone interview and design survey, you’ll meet with one of our Designers and Project Engineers to finalize the plan. At this stage, we may have to loop in vendors for plumbing and appliances. We’ll factor all of this into the final quote you’ll receive at our Design Studio. We can make changes at this point, or you can give us the green light, and we can sign the contract.

Once construction begins, you’ll be in the loop as much as you like. Expect frequent updates and clear communication from your team, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. We aim to get your project done quickly, minimizing the disruption to your life, but we remain committed to doing the finest work.
