Kitchen Design Trends for 2016

Kitchen design trends come and go, but when you’re talking about the most trafficked room of the house, it’s always good to anticipate those trends in order to keep your kitchen looking fresh, modern, and fully up to date. Which is exactly why we’ve put together a list of our top 5 kitchen design trends for 2016.

1. Metal accessories.

While this certainly shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, metal accessories, stainless steel appliances and other industrial-like components have continued to trend in 2016. Warmer metallics, like brass, gold, and copper have also started to peak and out shine other cooler-shaded metals like silver and stainless steel.

2. Muted color schemes.

White kitchens continue to dominate the kitchen space, but less saturated grays, blues, greens, and yellows have also started to trend in 2016. These soft colors help accent metallic hardware and countertops as well as wood accessories and hardwood floors.

3. Old is new (again).

Vintage is still in… and interestingly enough, the 80s are especially hot after the new year. Mirrored backspashes and vintage kitchen accessories are a great way to add style and personality to your home.

4. Integrated living spaces.

As one of the most trafficked and frequently used rooms in any home, a kitchen has to have plenty of breathing room for your family and friends, which is why kitchens with integrated living spaces have also become popular. Check out some of our transitional kitchens to get an idea of what these look like.

5. Well-lit cabinetry.

Rather than relying solely on ceiling lights, homeowners in 2016 are increasingly opting for well-lit cabinetry. Grouped with recessed can lights, low-voltage light tape strips under overhead cabinets can help add light and elegance to any kitchen.
